Research Focus
The research papers should have a theme and an argument(s) based on analyses of primary sources and critical engagement with existing scholarship. The paper should serve at least one of the following purposes:
- Initiate an academic conversation around a subject
- Contribute to ongoing scholarly dialogues on a theme
- Substantiate and/or nuance an existing idea/argument
Submission Guidelines:
• All papers are to be double-spaced and formatted according to the Chicago format.
• The length of the papers should be between 5000 to 10,000 words inclusive of footnotes and references. We are flexible about the word count. It is the rigour of research and the treatment of the subject that justifies the length.
• Kindly refer to the following link for detailed guidelines on citing bibliographies and footnotes in the Chicago format: https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html.
• Each paper must have an alphabetically arranged (but not numbered) bibliography at the end where each entry is accompanied by full publication details. The bibliography must list all the works referred to in the footnotes. Only books/essays or other materials referred to in the footnotes should be listed in the bibliography.
• An abstract of about 500 words and 5-7 keywords should be sent along with a brief bio note of about 150 words in a separate document.
• All submissions should be made online in the Times New Roman font, size 12, with the text aligned to the left.
• Single-author articles as well as collaborative works are welcome. For collaborative papers, the name of one corresponding author and the intended order of authorship (first author, second author, and so on) should be specified.
• Please carefully check the manuscript for grammatical errors, and ensure that all citations are in order as per the format.
• The abstract and list of works cited should not be included in section numbering, but the introduction and conclusion should be.
• We prefer footnotes, not endnotes.
• AI-generated content and plagiarism are strictly prohibited; all submissions must be the authors’ original work.
• Papers should be submitted to vimarsajournal.lsr@gmail.com.
• All submissions will be acknowledged upon receipt within two working days. If a paper is found suitable, the editors will send it to one or more experts of the concerned field for peer review, and the author will be notified about it. The review process may take anything between two to six weeks.
